Chevrolet car keys, coding & electronics

The bow tie that replaced Daewoo, then waved goodbye in 2015.

About Chevrolet

Chevrolet took over from Daewoo in the UK in 2005 and sold good-value Sparks, Aveos, Cruzes and Captivas until GM pulled the brand from Europe in 2015. They're honest, affordable cars, though with no dealers left owners sometimes feel a bit abandoned when a key goes walkabout.

AutoECU looks after Chevrolet owners with spare and all-keys-lost keys, immobiliser and module faults, coding and diagnostics, many sharing parts with Vauxhall.

Chevrolet models & platform codes

UK-market models we commonly work on, with years and the manufacturer's platform / chassis codes. Can't see yours? Ask us, the list isn't exhaustive.

Chevrolet keys & fobs

Transponder blade key

Matiz M200, Kalos T200, Lacetti J200, Tacuma, Spark M300 (base)

Easy to cut and program; a spare is very worthwhile.

Remote flip key (2-3 button)

Aveo T250/T300, Cruze J300, Orlando, Captiva, Epica, Trax, Spark M300

GM-based system, shared with many Vauxhalls; flip mechanisms wear, so refurb is often possible.

Smart proximity key

Volt, Camaro, Corvette C7, Captiva (upper trims)

Push-button start; spares and all-keys-lost done through the OBD port.

Chevrolet questions

Chevrolet has left the UK, where can I get a key?

You don't need a dealer: most Chevrolets can have new keys cut and programmed on site, including all-keys-lost. Proof of ownership is required. Message AutoECU with your reg and we'll confirm.

My Chevrolet Cruze or Captiva won't start and shows an immobiliser light, why?

It could be the key transponder, the BCM or the ECU not talking properly. A diagnostic narrows it down quickly. AutoECU can check it on your driveway.

Are Chevrolet parts the same as Vauxhall?

Many later Chevrolets, like the Cruze, Orlando and Trax, share platforms and electronics with Vauxhalls, which helps with parts and coding. Contact AutoECU and we'll tell you what applies to yours.

Need something done on your Chevrolet?

We'll fill in the make for you. Just add your reg and what's wrong.
